On July 12, for one evening only and for only 100 spectators, Yury Smekalov's dance drama "The Overcoat M" turned into an immersive performance in a previously inaccessible historical location in the center of St. Petersburg.

The spectators followed a route through eight rooms of the mansion on Rimsky-Korsakov, 22. Immediately after the show, a large-scale transformation of the space began: HIDEOUT residences opened here.

The original version of "The Overcoat M" combines two times and two stories: St. Petersburg in the 19th century, where the plot of Gogol's story unfolds, and the NEP period – the heyday of Vsevolod Meyerhold's theater and his "biomechanics". In the immersive version, viewers literally find themselves in the creative world of Vsevolod M., who is composing a play about the first love of Akaky Akakievich, not at all a “little man” and a hero worthy of love.

The viewers were divided into several groups, having previously chosen a convenient time to start the journey when purchasing tickets. Everyone has the opportunity to meet face to face with the artists and dancers of “Overcoat M” and hear a live performance of Vartan Gnoro’s music!

All senses are activated during this journey! Therefore, at the end, viewers were treated to a tasting of a specially developed duet set from the Jam bar and Salone Pasta&Bar.

The participants of the immersive version were: Vitaly Kulikov, Alexander Novikov, Laura Pitskhelauri, Ilya Del, Viktor Minkov, Elena Kalinina, Daria Ionova, Alexander Chelidze, Roman Andreikin and other participants of “Overcoat M”. Vartan Gnoro's music, written for the play, was performed live.
